The McAlester Middle School Band Program consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Bands. 

The 6th grade Beginning Band is for first year band students and is an introduction to instrumental music.  Students in this group work on concepts that will make them a successful bandmember.  This group performs at least two concerts and one contest yearly.  Students also have the oppurtunity to participate in Solo and Ensemble in the spring.

The 7th grade band is for second year band students only.  Students in this group work to reinforce fundamentals, expand musically, and are provided more oppurtunities for performance.  This group performs at least three concerts and one contest yearly.  Individually, students have the oppurtunity to compete in the SEOBDA All-District band in the fall and Solo and Ensemble in the spring.

The 8th grade band is for third year band students only.  Students in this group begin the transition to high school band and are guided as they appoach the pinnacle of middle school music performance.  This group performs at least three concerts and three contests yearly.  Individually, students have the oppurtunity to compete in the SEOBDA All-District band in the fall and Solo and Ensemble in the spring.
