High School Jazz Band

The McAlester High School Jazz Band is open to all students currently enrolled in High School Band.*
 
The ensemble meets every Tuesday and Friday mornings after marching band contest at 7:00am in the Wanda Bass Fine Arts Band Room (schedule subject to change). *Students who play Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, and/or Drums are welcome to be part of the ensemble.
 
This ensemble is an ambassador for the band program. Many of their performances are for community functions, elementary schools, and festivals. This past school year the jazz band performed at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio and enjoyed a visit to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio.  This is a non-competitive ensemble, but the ensemble has competed in Jazz contests around the state and country.The Jazz Band has earned awards from the Azalea Jazz Festival in Muskogee, Lake Texoma Jazz Festival in Durant and the Winter Park Ski-Music Festival in Winter Park, Colorado.
