January 27-28 - All-District Clinic and Concert @ SOSU Durant
February 28 - OSSAA Concert and Sightreading @ SOSU Durant
March 30 - Solo and Ensemble Contest @ Puterbaugh afterschool

The McAlester eighth grade band is comprised of all 8th graders at Puterbaugh Middle School.
This ensemble provides students a continued preparation for High School Band through music fundamentals, performances, and more travel.
Students individually, have opportunities in the fall for SEOBDA Honor Band tryouts and in the spring for solo & ensemble competition.
They also can enroll in string orchestra.
This group performs for the public at their Christmas and Spring Concerts, and also performs for the student body at pep rallies and assemblies.
For those students eligible and whom participate in the full band OSSAA contest in early March, will get to go stay at Great Wolf Lodge and Waterpark in Grapevine, TX. While in the Dallas area, the band will compete at the American Classics Music Festival at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, home of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. In addition, the students will spend time at Speed Zone Race Track and Six Flags Over Texas.
